About the Exhibit

The Central Florida Watercolor Society (CFWS), will hold its annual Members’ Show at Gallery at Avalon Island, beginning February 16th and running through March 9th. The show, which will feature recent works by CFWS members, will hold its awards ceremony and opening reception on February 16th from 6 to 9 p.m. The opening and show are free and open to the public. The gallery is located at 39 South Magnolia Avenue in downtown Orlando, and is open Thursday through Saturday, from 11:30 to 6:00 p.m.

The works were juried from over 80 entries from the organization’s 145 members. The subject matter covers a broad range of themes, and represents many styles of working in the watercolor medium. Most importantly, all works portray the beautiful fluidity of watercolor. The awards judge was Peter Spataro, who has won numerous awards for his work, and is a member in many of the medium’s most prestigious societies. Spataro will also teach a plein air workshop for the group on February 15th on the grounds of the Maitland Art Center, and will hold a demonstration at the same location the evening prior.

The Central Florida Watercolor Society, which began in 1998, is a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of watercolor art and is open to anyone interested in the medium, regardless of expertise. Meetings are usually held the first Sunday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Marvel Building of the Maitland Art and History Center, 234 S. Packwood Avenue. Those interested are encouraged to visit the group’s website at www.centralfloridawatercolor.com
