Do you remember when
you launched your art career?

Do you remember when you launched your art career? For entertainer Bobby Goldsboro it was Thursday Feb 21, 2008 at Gallery at Avalon Island, and I helped. It is a true honor for me to be able to help such a talented muscian and painter. Bobby and I first met about 1-1/2 years ago, just after he started painting and joined Artists Registry.com. We hit it off immediately and, being so impressed with his work, I began showing him the available galleries in the Orlando area. None suited him at the time.

But when I took over management of the newly renovated Gallery at Avalon Island in downtown Orlando I knew we had the spot to debut his work. He agreed. The elegance of the gallery with 20 foot ceilings and hardwood floors was perfect for his large oil on canvas paintings of primarily Florida landscapes, many of which were paintings of his "back yard", a 120 acre ranch with two lakes surrounded on three sides by the Ocala National Forest.

Public response has been fantastic with more than a dozen sales in one night! The exhibit will be on display until April 9. Gallery hours are Tues. - Sat. 12 - 6 PM. 39 S. Magnolia Ave., Orlando, FL 32801.

Gallery at Avalon Island announces the debut gallery show of entertainer/artist, Bobby Goldsboro
_________________

Florida-born entertainer, Bobby Goldsboro has performed before more than 2 billion people in his illustrious four decade career. His recordings, such as “Watching Scotty Grow” and “Little Green Apples” have become classics and his Signature hit, “Honey” was the largest selling record in the world in 1968! Goldsboro has sold over 35 million records worldwide.

Now, the multi-talented Goldsboro is focusing on his other love, painting. The self-taught artist began by traveling throughout his home state, bringing to life the serene hammocks and prairies of the ever-changing Florida landscape. He is now adding his “memories on canvas” from his travels around the world; Tuscan landscapes, Colorado mountains, etc. His composition and use of tones and color have quickly gained Goldsboro a reputation as a world-class artist.

Bobby Goldsboro’s music has always stirred the emotions. Now, his paintings are doing the same. His paintings are as diverse as his musical compositions.

Gallery at Avalon Island is proud to debut the works of Bobby Goldsboro in his very first one-man gallery show.  Goldsboro will be showing twenty-five original paintings as well as several giclee prints. He will also be showing his new line of greeting cards, which feature his paintings.

Gallery director Jeffrey Shonkwiler says, “It is a real treat for me to be able to host the debut exhibit of Bobby Goldsboro in Orlando, Florida. I met Mr. Goldsboro two years ago, shortly after he joined my arts organization, Florida Artists Registry.com. He called me one day to discuss upgrading his membership and said, ‘Jeff, this is Bobby Goldsboro.’ I said, “Oh, like the singer!” ‘Yep, that’s me.’ He had just started painting a year or so before. I was amazed at the quality of his work from the very beginning. He came to Orlando to discuss exhibiting and we toured all the galleries which were available at the time. Avalon was closed for renovations. None of the others seemed to fit the bill. Then one year ago I became Director of Gallery at Avalon Island and immediately contacted Bobby to tell him the news. This is a very elegant art gallery in the heart of Orlando. When Bobby and his wife, Dianne came to visit, they fell in love with the space immediately. We started the process of putting this exhibit together and it is very exciting to see it finally coming to fruition.”

The exhibit will be on display from February 21 through April 9, 2008. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, February 21 from 6 - 9 PM. Refreshments will be served and the public is invited. This is a free event.
